12/11/2023 0 Comments 80 days obsession im inEven after looking at those and asking my coach and a fellow challenge group participant for their week 1 meal plans, I felt a little lost. Thankfully, Beachbody / Autumn Calabrese have provided some sample meal plans for those who workout in the morning, afternoon, or evening. This means that the containers are paired into meals, and you are supposed to eat certain meals at certain times of the day, based around the workout. The big difference in the 80 Day Obsession nutrition plan is the “timed nutrition” element. Nutrition: First of all, based on my weight, I am on Plan A, which is the lowest calorie plan. I have been using the 21 Day Fix containers since March, so I am used to the portions and which foods belong to which container category. I used to have them after my workouts, but now I have recover and the post-workout meal, which does not include fruit. So I either have them for breakfast if I’m not working out in the morning, or some time in the evening as a snack. The only thing I didn’t like about my shakes this week is that I have to have them at what feel to me like weird times of the day because of the timed nutrition. This week I mostly stuck to a simple formula: one scoop of Vanilla Shakeology, a half or a full banana (sometimes frozen, sometimes not), a cup of almond milk, and a handful of spinach leaves (even though veggies are not required of this “meal” - again, more in the nutrition section). I love that it takes care of one of my required proteins for the day, and to be honest, it is also delicious and tastes like a treat. I love Shakeology and look forward to having my shake each day. I have tried several flavors, but I have a 30 serving bag of Vanilla Shakeology now, so that’s what I’ve had each day of Week 1. Shakeology: Shakeology is a part of every Beachbody program, and I have already been drinking it for a couple of months. It’s also a good way to get that extra water in each day, since you’ll be drinking each supplement dissolved into 8 ounces of water. The supplements come with measured scoops and only need to be stirred up in some cold water until they dissolve, so they’re very easy to use. The Recover supposedly helps with soreness, and I really wasn’t too sore until after leg day (and on that day, I only had a half scoop of Recover instead of the whole one I’m supposed to have). ![]() It’s difficult for me to say how much these supplements are helping, but I was able to get through all of the workouts, so even if it’s a placebo effect, Energize works for me. This week, I faithfully had my Energize 30 minutes before working out (more about that in the nutrition section) and my Recover within 30 or 35 minutes after working out (I like to shower immediately after working out, and boy did I need it this week). ![]() My challenge pack includes a 40 serving container of Energize in lemon flavor and a 20 serving container of Recover in chocolate. The cast members also drink a third supplement, Hydrate, during the workouts, but I don’t have that one. Supplements: The program introduces some new supplement powders that are to be taken before and after the workouts. ![]() Instead of breaking down each day, I will just give an overview of each workout, as well as my thoughts on some other aspects of the program that I was introduced to this week. After successfully completing “A Little Obsessed” in preparation for this program, I jumped in on Monday, May 14.
